Philosophy
Vanessa Ortiz, Founder and Interior Decorator
This Bronx Girl Designs was created to serve clients who value high-end interior decoration as well as affordability and authenticity. My philosophy is that your home is your foundation -- your launching pad -- and it sets you up for confidence and success. Everyone deserves a beautiful home.
I have a passion for great design, art, color and texture. I've gained a reputation for creating beautiful and functional spaces. My designs maximize what you own -- often repurposed or relocated -- with sustainability and cost savings in mind. I'll introduce new ideas and decorative items that represent your character and unique style.
A native New Yorker (born and raised in the South Bronx), I've traveled to Asia, Africa, Central and Latin America, and Europe. My appreciation and understanding of the history of textiles and architecture complement my formal study of principles of design and interior decoration.
I understand the constraints of renters and the parameters of coop/condo and owners, and also recognize the difficulty of letting go of old items that often represent our past selves. This should not get in the way of good design!

PARK SLOPE APARTMENT
Creating an environment that embraces life changes
My client Diane was undergoing a career transition. Her apartment of 4 years in Park Slope, Brooklyn was no longer serving her needs for reflection and learning. We worked remotely and in person to create a more serene and feminine environment, and addressed storage needs as well as lighting and infusing the space with color accents. Color and whimsy -- New York City's shelter in place order had many of us turn inward, sometimes to think and plan for the future, catch up on movies or reading, or create art and textiles. I have newly created, handmade items that will look great in your home.
